ABC Family Picks Up 'Twisted' and 'The Fosters'

Two new dramas are making their way to ABC Family.

In a press release announced yesterday, ABC Family has chosen to pick up two new dramas for this year's season order. Twisted (formerly Socio) and The Fosters will begin production later this spring, with a series premiere slated for mid-summer 2013.

The Fosters is a one hour drama about a multi-ethnic family that features an ensemble cast of biological and foster children raised by two mothers. The project is being helmed by former American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez, Bradley Bredeweg and Peter Paige.

While The Fosters could be a mix of comedy and drama, Twisted seems to be the more suspenseful of the two new orders. The story centres on the return of a troubled 16 year old who reconnects with his two female childhood best-friends. He soon becomes the prime suspect in the death of one of his classmates. Still in consideration for series order is the drama Terminales.

Twisted and The Fosters will join a line-up of ABC Family programs which include Pretty Little Liars, The Lying Game, Switched at Birth and Baby Daddy.
