Supergirl is making a super move over to a new station. One of television's breakout freshman shows is finding a new home on the CBS sister network, The CW, for its upcoming second season. Announced Thursday among a slew of other TV renewals and cancellations, Supergirl's fate was left up in the air as CBS determined costs for the bubble show.

While the show started off strong for the 2015-2016 season, the show ultimately declined in ratings to a respectable 10 millions viewers, with DVR numbers included. Rumours were popping up that the show may have been moving to The CW, where the network is home to other superhero shows. With this news confirmed, Supergirl will also be moving production to Vancouver to be filmed near other network shows, like Arrow and Flash.

In addition to the Supergirl renewal, The CW announced the cancellation of Containment and three new series pickups. Riverdale, the modern adaption of the Archie Comics, has been picked up to series, along with Frequency and No Tomorrow. For more about these new shows, I briefly discussed them when the network had ordered their pilots.

I'm VERY excited to see Riverdale  - it looks to be an interesting take on the show and could prove refreshing with the superhero shows on the network. As a fan of The CW programming, it will be on my must-watch list for the upcoming TV year.

Archie and friends are getting a makeover for a new generation. The soda pop gang, who still rules the Sunday morning comics, is potentially being revamped into a brand new TV series on The CW. Receiving a pilot episode order, Riverdale is a modern take on the comic book series. The show will follow the lives of Archie, Betty, Veronica and their friends as they move through quiet small town life and discover the secrets of Riverdale.

Riverdale joins a collection of five other pilots ordered by the younger-skewing network. There's period piece Transylvania, which is about a young woman in search of her father while fighting infamous monsters, a romantic-comedy No Tomorrow, a TV remake of Frequency, the Untitled Mars Project set on the red planet, and the equally mysterious Kevin Williamson pilot.

The CW has been having a great year in terms of their TV shows and ratings. They struck gold in awards season and fans are loving their high-concept shows, especially their superhero dramas. However, they didn't pick up many new shows last year, and it's expected that a few of their older series could be getting the axe this year. America's Next Top Model and Beauty and the Beast are already cancelled, but who could be next to make room? Reign? Crazy Ex-Girlfriend? The Vampire Diaries? The unaired Containment?

If I had a choice, I would love to see Riverdale, the Kevin Williamson pilot, Transylvania and the Untitled Mars Project (in that order) get a series order. But we're talking about The CW here...we'll never know what they decide until May 2016.

May is finally here and that only means one thing: pilot season is almost coming to an end. The network upfronts are set for next week and the networks will be unveiling their new line-ups and series orders. Unfortunately, many shows will be getting the axe this week to make room - similar to the recent announcement that Almost Human was cancelled by Fox after one season. Before the bad news starts coming in, let's enjoy the good news of renewals and series pick-ups.

While many naturally assumed this pilot as a lock for the 2014-2015 season, Fox has announced on May 5th that the pilot will become a series. Gotham, the comic book origin story of Commissioner Gordon (played by Benjamin McKenzie) and DC's super-villains, has been ordered to series to join previously picked pilots such as Heiroglyph and Backstrom.

In other renewal news, WGN America has renewed Salem for a second season. The supernatural period-piece accumulated great numbers for the network, scoring the honour of being the network's most-watched show in years. Salem is slated to hopefully return in 2015 for a 13-episode second season.

Check out the extended trailer below to get a closer look at the new series.

Send out the Bat-Signal - I'm too excited for the latest scoop. Revealed on Monday at the Television Critics Association (TCAs), Fox's Chairman of Entertainment Kevin Reilly announced that the recently ordered to series Batman prequel Gotham will also introduce the origin stories of several important DC villains and characters from the Batman universe.

Originally intended to focus on the origins of future police Commissioner James Gordon and the criminals that torture Gotham City, Gotham will follow the journey of a young Bruce Wayne as he develops into the Dark Knight. The beginnings of several notable DC villains will be introduced before they fought head-to-head with Batman, such as The Penguin, Riddler, Catwoman and much more.

While no production details have started except for the pilot script, Reilly did state that Bruce Wayne's story will follow him from around the age of 12 until he puts on the Batman cape in the series finale (whenever that may be).

NBC is the second broadcast network to start their 2013-2014 series orders.

Coming off the heels of FOX's announcement on Wednesday, NBC has revealed another five pilots to officially get picked up for a season premiere. The current total is listed at three dramas and four comedies, with mini-series Dracula and comedy The Michael J. Fox Show already previously reported.

Continuing as the next two drama pick-ups are the high concept Crisis and the J.J. Abrams-helmed Believe. Crisis seems to be a political thriller that delves into an overarching conspiracy while Believe follows the relationship of a young gifted girl and the man tasked to protect her from evil. Between the two Crisis may be a little TOO complex for people to latch onto while Believe is definitely a series I want to check out. Plus, Kyle MacLachlan, Jamie Chung and Sienna Guillory are set to star, which is always a casting incentive.

The NBC Comedies are bringing back a lot of returning faces. Including Michael J. Fox in his sitcom, Sean Hayes (Will & Grace) will star in Sean Saves The World, a multi-cam sitcom about a man who tries to find the balance of parenting and appeasing a new boss. Television adaptation About A Boy and sitcom Family Guide join NBC's new comedy line-up as well.

More news (and long awaited cancellations/renewals) could be coming in as the day goes on.

FOX must be on a spending spree since they've practically finished their series orders in one day.

As reported on Wednesday by TVLine (for comedies and dramas), FOX has revealed an astounding nine series orders for their 2013-2014 season. The pick-ups come on the heels of the network's upfront event scheduled for next week where they will reveal their new line-up.

Police ensembles are the highlight for FOX next year. Included in their drama orders is the J.J. Abrams' futuristic cop thriller Almost Human, which was buzzed as a sure-thing for weeks now. An adaptation of the classic Headless Horseman tale Sleepy Hollow  was also ordered, as well undercover cop thriller Gang Related and legal drama Rake. Based on descriptions alone, I'd love to see how Almost Human and Sleepy Hollow turn out - J.J. Abrams has impressed me with his previous work and I really liked the tale of Sleepy Hollow as a child.

The comedies are another story for FOX as it is their bread and butter. Among the previously ordered sitcom Dads, FOX has picked-up the Andy Samberg comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine, family comedy Enlisted, the Chris Meloni sitcom Surviving Jack and romantic-comedy Us & Them.

Two new dramas are making their way to ABC Family.

In a press release announced yesterday, ABC Family has chosen to pick up two new dramas for this year's season order. Twisted (formerly Socio) and The Fosters will begin production later this spring, with a series premiere slated for mid-summer 2013.

The Fosters is a one hour drama about a multi-ethnic family that features an ensemble cast of biological and foster children raised by two mothers. The project is being helmed by former American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez, Bradley Bredeweg and Peter Paige.

While The Fosters could be a mix of comedy and drama, Twisted seems to be the more suspenseful of the two new orders. The story centres on the return of a troubled 16 year old who reconnects with his two female childhood best-friends. He soon becomes the prime suspect in the death of one of his classmates. Still in consideration for series order is the drama Terminales.

Twisted and The Fosters will join a line-up of ABC Family programs which include Pretty Little Liars, The Lying Game, Switched at Birth and Baby Daddy.

Time for a little bit of magic and a whole lot of drama.

Lifetime announced today that they have decided to pick up Witches of East End for a 10-episode season order. The new witchy drama will star Julia Ormond as Beauchamp family matriarch Joanna, with Jenna Dewan-Tatum and Rachel Boston portraying her daughters Freya and Ingrid respectively. Madchen Amick is also slated to star as Joanna's sister, Wendy.

Witches of East End is based on the popular best-selling adult book series from Melissa de la Cruz. The television series will focus on the story of the Beauchamp family and their lives in East Haven. Once younger daughter Freya (Dewan-Tatum) becomes engaged, the union sparks a series of events that forces Joanna (Ormond) to reveal to her daughters that both, in reality, are the next generation of witches in the Beauchamp family tree.

The new drama series is slated to premiere on Lifetime later this year.
