'Heroes' Revived By NBC, 13 Episodes Ordered

Save the cheerleader, save the world! Remember when that used to be a thing? (Wow...I just showed my age.)

Announced yesterday from the peacock network, NBC has officially decided to revive their X-Men/superhero-like drama Heroes from the TV grave for an initial 13-episode miniseries. The new television event, Heroes Reborn, will be set to air in 2015. No word yet has been revealed if any of the original characters and cast will return to the new series.

For those of you unfamiliar with the show, Heroes was a smash hit action series in 2006 that featured everyday people discovering that they were developing superpowers. The first season received immense buzz and viewer popularity that it seemed like the show would continue to progress but it faltered in later seasons, being cancelled in 2010 after its fourth season. The show stared hit performers like Zachary Quinto, Hayden Panettiere, Ali Larter, Adrian Pasdar, Milo Ventimigilia and a revolving door of other main characters, recurring and guests - it was a big show with a large cast.

I'm interested to see how this new series of Heroes will pan out, especially since a revival has been rumoured since MSN was in talks to bring it back. I watched the show for the first three seasons before walking away from it - too much kept happening to follow and it lost its edge near the end. Maybe things will turn around in 2015? A lot can happen in a year and diehard fans must be excited to see their show come back.
